Hyderabad (PTI): Lok Satta Party headed by civil servant turned politician Jayaprakash Narayan, on Friday demanded an immediate inquiry into the alleged irregularities in payment of compensation for land acquired for Jindal Aluminium factory in Vizinagaram district.
The party alleged that some people's representatives, in collusion with officials, had drawn compensation in the names of farmers and caused financial loss to the government.
While some fake landholders managed to get huge compensation, some genuine farmers were paid only nominal or no compensation, the party said in a statement here.
The Jindals are building the aluminium factory in Boddavara region of S Kota Mandal in Vizinagaram district over 1048 acres.
According to the Lok Satta, the irregularties involved Rs 10 crore of the Rs 22.44 crore paid as compensation.
The party General Secretary D V V S Varma and party spokesman B Krishna Reddy said a five-member committee headed by Lok Satta Party's Vizinagaram unit, Bhisetty Babji, had conducted an inquiry and submitted a report to party President Jayaprakash Narayan.
