The Lok Satta Party today charged that an invisible force has been using expelled party members as pawns in its conspiracy to dent the growing popularity of the Lok Satta in the GHMC elections.
Talking to the media, the Lok Satta leaders recalled that Mrs. Akula Maharani who had filed a defamation case against TDP Chandrababu Naidu for his baseless allegations against Lok Satta Party President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan a few months ago had now chosen to mount similar false charges against Dr. JP.
Mr. Y. D. Rama Rao, Mr. Katari Srinivasa Rao and Mr. V. Laxman Balaji pointed out that parties which had no credible agenda are trying their best to discredit the Lok Satta Party by deploying members expelled from the party. They had been holding media conferences to spew venom on Dr. JP. And on Sunday, pamphlets deriding Dr. JP were distributed along with newspapers in Chandanagar division. The party is registering a case against the anonymous people who brought out the pamphlets.
They disclosed that the party leadership, in tune with its democratic functioning, had delayed announcing its mayoral candidate for a week so as to arrive at a consensus.
Why was Mrs. Akula Maharani expelled from the party? I did a quick search on her and it looks like she has been associated with Loksatta since 1996. Why was such a old member expelled? What defamation case has she filed against Dr. JP?
ReplyDeleteShe filed defamation case 3 months ago against CBN, not JP. Now she jumped the ship, presumably lured by TDP.
ReplyDeleteAs a loksatta supporter, I am totally disappointed by this statement by Loksatta. Instead of answering the questions asked by rebels clearly like we answered the TDP allegations. Saying invisible force is involved is the most stupid statement.
ReplyDeleteDuring recent times, there have been many allegations and many veterans left the party.
ReplyDeleteThis may be because they expected something ( getting tickets for their people .. etc ), and got disappointed when they could not.
A solution to all these kind of problems is 'elections' to elect the candidates. For now we dont have that member base to do so...
So our priority should be to increase the member base and go for elections for all the positions. A single solutions to all the probs!!
Elections to Elect the candidates may not be the best solution given the state of affairs. If Loksatta is going to conduct the elections to elect the candidates, other parties would be more interested in deciding the winner of our election, since, it decides their success/failure in the main election. All other parties do not have money problem. So, they do whatever they can to get their best candidate.
