The Lok Satta Party today welcomed the Government of India decision to permit foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail trade.
In a media statement, Lok Satta Party General Secretary Katari Srinivasa Rao said that FDI in retail would benefit both farmers and consumers and gives a boost to the agricultural sector. As the Indian market continues to grow, small traders will continue to thrive.
“There is no solid argument against FDI in infrastructure. We need more investment but capital is scarce. Therefore, we must tap all sources.”
Mr. Srinivasa Rao called upon people, who rightly attacked the Prime Minister and the Government of India for policy paralysis till the other day, to support them for taking bold decisions in the country’s interest.
“The central challenge of democracy is reconciling short-term political price with long-term public good. It is time all politicians realized that nation is above parties and power games. India cannot forever be held to ransom for power & votes.”
