Taking a dig at the former corporators of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for spending Rs. 42 lakh towards their food during the council meetings, the Lok Satta leaders held a symbolic protest by eating in gold imitation plates at the civic body canteen meals priced at Rs. 5. Lok Satta GHMC wing general secretary B. Sambi Reddy charged the corporators of spending Rs. 2,000 per lunch per person during the corporation meetings and spending Rs. 42 lakh for 21 meetings conducted in the last term.
‘Outcome not known’
“The GHMC spent Rs.3 crore to organise its meetings but what was discussed and solved is not known,” he said.
State general secretary of Lok Satta, Solkar Reddy, said issues of bad roads, drainage, and potable water supply were not addressed during these meetings while the corporators spent Rs.14 crore for their tours and lunches.
