Lok Satta party president Jayaprakash Narayan on Saturday lambasted the Telugu Desam government in the State blaming its ‘extreme short-termism’ for the call money-cum-sex scam that has rocked Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the local media, he said the call money episode was a classic example of ad-hocism of the Chandrababu Naidu government.
He demanded that the government deal effectively with those found guilty in the scandal by distinguishing between the three key components — sex racket, loan sharking and the informal credit system in operation. “There seems to be no way out for the State government which has not been focussing on what needs to be done. Be it the cyclone in Visakhapatnam or Godavari Pushkarams, the short-termism has come through very glaringly and the call money scam is the latest in the list,” he said.
He said the government first messed up the cooperative sector by turning it defunct and then went ahead with loan waivers to farmers, which in turn, destroyed the credit network.
“Without credit architecture, no economy can survive,” he warned.
He said the quality of education and health was dismal.
