  2. Dear Srinivas,

Please ask yourself the same questions. Or put yourself in the shoes of an honest politician. How can we define time limit for change if the election results are completely in the hands of the people? As a supporter, the frustration is understandable but it must be kept in mind that the answers you seek are not in the hands of Lok Satta.

Question about aligning with communists is a valid one and the alignment is to solve the immediate problem of fighting in the local politics in an ethical way and give honest people an option to cast their vote. Talk about economic policy etc is not for this generation as neither party is anywhere near the position to do anything about policies.

Let us not talk in general language. In Prathipadu, Lok Satta fielded a candidate who has a proven track record and is a genuine fighter (you can read her interview here: http://lspleaders.wordpress.com/2012/05/13/jonnalagadda-jaya-bhagyamma-guntur-interview/). We spent money well within the limits and every rupee raised for the election campaign is white and accounted for. The campaign went to every household at least twice and she is a local candidate who is well-known in the area. We did not distribute money or liquor during elections. Even after this if people give us only a small percentage of vote, all we can do is continue the fight and keep hoping for a change. How can we be responsible for the loss? What else do you think we can do differently?

    Raghuveer,

    Thanks for your words.

That one sentence sums up my anguish. You can't forever be in the business of splitting the votes, and in doing so you are helping the worst parties win the elections with ease. As i said earlier, LS must evolve as a king maker. Whether we like it or not, democracy is all about number game. LS can't continue like this indefinitely without winning more seats. Time is running out not just for the people, but for LS/J.P garu as well. J.P garu must make some bold moves and should get along with other parties, make alliances and win some seats. I don't mind if LS switches allies consistently in an effort to put pressure on successive govts by winning seats as long as it helps the common man, and i believe it does help. J.P garu as a minister can do much better things for people than an M.L.A. What people are looking for is good governance, and unless you are part of the govt. how can you provide good governance?

    Thanks and good luck!

  4. Srinivas,

You are absolutely correct. The status quo is not only not desired but at a practical level, it is not sustainable for Lok Satta. I think the party will concentrate solely on 10-15 constituencies for the next elections. If unfortunately the party does not make any dent in the 2014 elections, my guess is that JP and LSP will go for plan B and go back to being what it was before becoming a political party.

But it is too early to throw in the towel. In Kovvur, we were disappointed about getting 1500+ votes in the last round. Remember that a Communist Party which won the seat twice earlier got 3000 votes. If we are so disappointed, imagine the state of TDP. 90+ seats and CBN as a CM for a record time...what about them? The current trend in politics is Jagan hawa.

  5. If a political party does not tell to which candidate the voters should vote in atleast 90% of the constituencies, then they can close the party and become an NGO.

In all the constituencies, either the party should contest, or it's alliance parties should contest. It cannot leave, 95% of the constituencies, and contest only in 5% of the constituencies and expect the state to be developed.

I don't think, communists would be contesting in more than 10-15% of the constituencies. If Lok Satta is going to contest only in 5-10% of the constituencies, it is better to close the party.

In 2009, LSP and BJP are two parties of special significance. Both contested in more than 240 constituencies. LSP won one and BJP won two. But, both these parties gave option to most of the voters of the state. It is just that, people did not utilize that option.

When a political party is asking voters to change, it must tell to whom they should vote. If it cannot tell, then they should not ask them in the first place.

  6. I am always surprised with the overwhelming suggestions LSP always gets. When it fails in elections, everyone comes up that they have found a reason for the failure and the way it should function to change India(!!!),not only for winning elections.. Oh my god, we have so many intellectuals in(?) the party. It astonishes me how this party is not ruling the whole world!. let me throw some questions which are not clear to me.

Dear Srinivas, if the loosing party margin is more than 20K and LSP get not more than 3k, can we say someone lost because of split?. And as party is it the duty of LSP to make sure somebody wins or does not win?.

Great suggestion. Can you tell at least what issues we can fight along with. is it on issue of corruption?(Did TDP support when JP sent letter asking for their support for anti corruption bill?). Is it on issue of liquor. are these parties not involved in liquor syndicates?. And has TDP ever stopped criticizing LS even without evidence?. So, finally election is the only issue we can fight together?

    >> and in doing so you are helping the worst parties win the elections with ease
Can you please tell the metric by which you are naming somebody as worst?. Is our problem with corruption or somebody does the corruption in open?.

Dear Satish has found great reason so that we can close the party. When LSP fielded candidates in all the constituencies some people gave suggestions that it is better to close a party when you give ticket to someone and they did not even campaign.

I request you to listen to Dr.Ashwin Mahesh from LSP Karnataka, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53Lv6OGbvdw

  7. Anonymous,

I request you to watch the video of Sadhguru and J.P.

And then decide if you want a good person or a capable person to lead.

We have one very good Prime Minister for years but that didn't change the country any better than before, we need a capable person. And a capable person may not be the good person... but still that's whom i look for to see some visible results.
