  2. Everyone who has paid Rs.10 (Ten rupees only) and has taken membership has right to vote, and in the recent elections more than one lakh people out of 5 lakh primary members utilized the vote.

The membership is valid for three years. So, it is Rs.10 for 3 years, and I don't think it is high.

  3. I guess Ramana was talking about eligibility for contesting in party elections not about voting in party elections. Every member in the party should be elegible to contest in all the elections. Other wise there wont be any difference between PRP (has roumers as selling tickets) and Loksatta Both will be same, only the difference in price.

  4. All the active members are eligible for any post. All the primary members are eligible for all the non-critical posts (like Secretary etc.)

If you want to get elected for any post, then you are expected to do some active contribution to the party. For any post in the party, the elected person is expected to do all the activities mentioned in the constitution of Loksatta. At the same time, Loksatta expects you to donate some money for the party. I don't remember the amount exactly. It is Rs.25 for active membership for 3 years. And, depending on the income, they have to pay appropriately. For the person, whose yearly income is less than Rs.50,000, they don't need to pay anything. For less than Rs.1,00,000, it is around Rs.50 per year. Only for the people who are earning more than Rs.5 Lakh per year, are expected to donate 2% of their salary.

Loksatta is not expecting any money, if you don't have. If your income per year is Rs.1,00,000, I don't think Rs.100 per year would be a very big amount provided that you have an official post of Loksatta.
