Is there no place for the honest in politics, Lok Satta asks Chandrababu

TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu continues to spew venom at Lok Satta Party President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan because he could not reconcile himself to the fact that one could get elected to the Assembly without splurging money and liquor.

That was how the Lok Satta reacted to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s comment in Kukatpally in Friday that a person like Dr. JP was fit to be a TV anchor and not a politician.

Talking to the media, party leaders V. Laxman Balaji, Bhisetty Babji and V. Vijayender Reddy pointed out that in Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s perception there is no place for honest and knowledgeable persons in politics since it is the preserve of the ignorant an exploitrs. They said that Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had betrayed his colossal ignorance by asking whether Dr. JP had visited them once after becoming an MLA.

The leaders recalled that Dr. JP visited the constituency immediately after elections and before the results were out to thank the voters irrespective of the election outcome. He has visited the constituency 55 times in the last 167 days after taking his oath as a member of the Assembly.

The spokesmen said that Dr. JP had committed himself to addressing his constituents’ problems in a time-bound manner. They listed the measures taken by Dr. JP to resolve some of the burning problems and plans initiated by him to resolve other problems.

  1. Why does TDP keep attacking Lok Satta? Simple. As long as Lok Satta grows, TDP will never come back to power. LSP will become the natural alternative to Congress over a period of time. And TDP voters will migrate to one of these two factions.

TDP should support 'proportional representation', which LSP is also fighting for. That way, it can remain relevant a little bit longer.
