Lok Satta welcomes Govt. decision

The Lok Satta Party today welcomed the Union Government decision to constitute a committee comprising representatives of the Government and civil society to draft the Lok Pal Bill.

In a media statement, party Working President D. V. V. S. Varma had no alternative to bowing to public opinion in the wake of social activist Anna Hazare’s fast seeking constitution of a powerful and independent Lok Pal.

Inspired by the success of the current movement against corruption, people should now focus on bringing about electoral reforms and cleansing the political system. There could be no real change in their lives without a change in the nature of politics, Mr. Varma added.

  1. yes. But sir, do you these think civil societies insisting an independent authority will concentrate on electoral reforms?? This very achievement is encouraging people to not bother about politics and politicians anymore. This is definitely not a democratic way of solving problems.

  2. The purpose of Democracy is to represent people's aspirations. People overwhelming support to implement Jan Lokpal bill represents that civilians are certain it will not happen with the present politicians and leaders. When politicians are not representative of people's aspirations, then thats not a democracy at all. So, better we encourage new, honest leaders or we participate in the politics.
